Who is the East Coast Index?

We have been asked, who is the East Coast Index?

Robby Marusak has been the voice of the East Coast Index for over 10 year and has evaluated the players and has allowed us to publish the evaluation.

Robby Marusak lives in the Pocono area in Blakeslee, PA.

Mr. Marusak has a long basketball background.

He was the starting point guard on the 1971 Hazleton St. Gabriel's State Championship team.

In 1967, in the PCIAA Class C State Championship Game,  St. Gabriel's of Hazleton defeated Northeast St. Gregory 68-60.  The losing coach for Northeast St. Gregory in the game was Pete White who runs the Keystone State Shootouts.
In 2013, Mr. Marusak retired as the East Coast Director. The new East Coast Director will be Earl Hazel of East Petersburg, PA, but Robbie Marusak will still be retained in an Emeritus Status for special assignments.

Currently, Robbie Marusak roots for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and their manager, Joe Maddon his long time friend from back in Hazleton.  Their athletic roots go way back, Joe was the shortstop and Robbie was the second baseman on two Hazleton Teener State  Championship baseball teams (they were called the Molly Maguires).  The film, the Molly Maguires was being shot at that time at Eckley Miners Village north of Hazleton.  See this article about Joe Maddon HERE

What will the East Coast Index do at our Shootout?   They will evaluate the players and prepare a list for us, the same as they have done in the past.  That list will be posted on our website for players, parents, and coaches to see.
