The all-time national record for girls, Baskin (LA) recorded 218 consecutive wins from 1947-1953
The all-time national record for boys, Passaic (NJ) recorded 159 consecutive wins from 1919-1925
As of March 21, 2009-only one, the Mt. Lebanon girls are "King of the Hill!"-congratulations girls!!

Below find the early streaks

Chartiers Valley (District 7), The Colts came in with a 24-0 record. They were averaging 84.5 points a game. They shot 3-pointers like layups, making 13 a game.  But Highlands (19-6) beat the Colts at their own game -- shooting. Highlands made 11 of 26 3-pointers. Chartiers Valley made only 9 of 24. The win puts Highlands in the title game Friday at Duquesne University.  (2/25/09, Mike White, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)

Chartiers Valley (10-0) and North Catholic (9-0) are the only two undefeated teams left in the WPIAL.  (1/9/09)

District 3 girls: Northeastern (14-0), Muhlenberg (13-0)

District 3 boys: York
(15-0), while the York girls are (0-13)

Germantown Academy, (12-0) which went 4-0 in winning the Naples (Fla.) Daily News Shootout. Along the way, the Patriots beat the a defending Florida state champion, Miramar-Parkway Academy, and then in the finals, took out PIAA District One Class AAAA favorite Downingtown East.

Holy Cross
  (Dunmore, PA)  The Lady Crusaders ran their streak to 9-0 before losing.

Lewistown Girls 60 Central 40-- The Central girls fell behind 18-4 in the first quarter and never recovered in a loss at Lewistown.  Kayla Espigh's 26 points were tops for Lewistown, which led 32-17 at halftime. Central (3-2) got eight points each from Sarabeth Bean and Alexa Hamilton.  Lewistown also got 12 points from Makenzie Knable.  (Altoona Mirror item forwarded to us by Dave Burman)

Moravian Academy 43, Notre Dame-East Stroudsburg 20: At East Stroudsburg, the Lions are still unbeaten after their non-league win over the Spartans.  Maggie Reilly led Moravian (6-0) with 21 points.  (12/20/08, Allentown Morning Call)

Muhlenberg (Muhls), (6-0 Berks II, 13-0) The Muhlenberg girls have beaten all comers. That includes defending county champion Wilson. And now the previously unbeaten Reading Red Knights (4-1 Berks I, 10-1).  (Reading Eagle, 1/9/09)

Mt. Lebanon Blue Devils girls 18-0  (Pittsburgh Post Gazette)

Notre Dame Green Pond , Joe Giangobbe scored 15 points and was named tournament MVP in leading Notre Dame Green Pond to a 55-40 victory over Phillipsburg in the championship game of the Easton Rotary Tournament.  Andrew Kohler, who added 12 points, was also named to the all-tournament team for Notre Dame Green Pond (9-0) .

Penn Wood,  After the lead changed hands 17 times in the first three quarters, Penn Wood dominated the fourth, forcing 12 turnovers and pulling away to defeat the Millionaires, 72-57 in the Williamsport Holiday Classic championship. The Patriots (8-0) showed why they have been ranked No. 1 in some statewide polls while snapping the Millionaires six-game winning streak.  (12/31/08, Chris Masse,  Williamsport Sun Gazette)  on January 27, 2009, they were 13-1

West Middlesex 46, Reynolds 45 — At West Middlesex, Marcus Murray buried a pair of free throws with 1.3 seconds left in the game as the Class A Big Reds (4-7) upset previously-unbeaten Reynolds (11-1) in a non-region game.

Sto-Rox, Tynesha Lee had 18 points as Class AA No. 1 Sto-Rox (10-0) remained undefeated with a 49-37 victory against Class AAA No. 4 Mars (7-2) at the Mars tournament.  (2/30/08)

St. Mary's Girls, The St. Marys Area Lady Dutch remained perfect at 8-0 on the season with a 51-36 victory over the Brookville Lady Raiders  (Jim Mulcahy Daily Press)  They lost to their cross town rivals, Elk Co. Catholic.

East Syracuse-Minoa (NY) (0-8), Kevin Roy's last-second basket enabled Baldwinsville to edge host East Syracuse-Minoa 68-66 in the first round of the Vince Celi Memorial Tournament. (12/31/08, Syracuse Post Standard)

Who has the longest running losing streak?   As of 2/4/08, Palisades' High School (Kintnersville)  finished 0-24, which leaves them at 73 straight heading into this season.  Last year's losing Streak Story HERE   This year they have opened at 0-8 to go to 81 straight and counting toward the record.  (Dom Cosentino,  Doylestown Intelligencer) Palisades wins, streak over at 85, article HERE

--Dec 15 1976 - Mifflinburg beat Muncy 56-55 to break 88 game losing streak. Mark Wagner sank two free throws with six seconds remaining to win it. The streak started in Dec. 1972.(Credit: bud tangert, lititz)

I was wondering if you had any information on the longest losing streaks in PA girls varsity basketball history?  Curwensville Area high school had quite a streak in the late 1990s/early 2000s, so I was curious!

Last year's runs for perfect seasons chronicled HERE

On March 9, 2008  in a  PIAA Class A Boys' Quarterfinal, Kennedy Catholic  won 58-43 over previously unbeaten Coudersport  at Clarion University’s Tippin Gym.  It ended the longest streak of the season, 29 straight by Coudersport.
