| The Pennsylvania/Maryland All-Star Game did not invite Terrelle Pryor to play in the 2008 event for high school senior basketball players. And we would be the first to acknowledge that he probably would not have accepted anyhow. However, to be honest with you, we don't want Terrelle. If he does want to play in an all-star basketball game, he should play in an Ohio game. He was not a good foul shooter at crunch time in the State Championship Game anyhow. But moreover we didn't like his comments when signing with Ohio State when he said that one reason he did not sign with Penn State was because they had not promised Tom Bradley the Penn State job when Joe Paterno's tenure ends. Who does Terrelle think he is? The last college player to influence coaching change was Jason Kidd (playing basketball) at the University of California. Lou Campanelli had been very successful at James Madison University before going off to the bright lights of the Pac Ten. There he had the good fortune, at least he thought, of recruiting Jason Kidd. Jason was a very good point guard, but he didn't want just to direct the offense, he also wanted to run the entire operation, and eventually he did. He got Coach Campanelli fired because the coach would not listen to the player, Kidd. Imagine that, listen to a Kidd! Do we want Terrelle running Penn State? You might, but I don't and neither does Graham Spanier. When Coach Campanelli was directing his highly successful program at James Madison University, two of my players were recruited and given scholarships to JMU, so I knew Coach Campanelli. He was top-notch. Don't get me wrong, I would like to see Tom Bradley get the job at Penn State, he was my freshman quarterback at Bishop McCort High School in Johnstown when I coached there many moons ago. He is top-notch. If we want to give Terrell any credit, we should give him a pat on the back for increasing Penn State's chances of defeating Michigan this season in football. They have no quarterbacks at present. Rich Rodriguez left West Virginia "high and dry" even before they had competed in the their bowl game. And then started his quest to bring Terrelle to Michigan. The other Michigan quarterbacks jumped ship knowing that the new coach had his sights set on Terrelle and a new offensive style for the Wolverines. Michigan now now needs to place advertisements in newspapers countrywide looking for a quarterback. Since Terrelle strung out his decision making process, he left them "high and dry." Or you might say, he did not give them enough "Pryor notice!" Well, we are giving notice to Terrelle, if you want to come to the Pennsylvania vs Maryland Game on March 29th in Steelton, you will have to buy a ticket like everyone else. What the sports world today does not need, is high school players giving press conferences. And we don't need the press attending and lending credence -and providing encouragement - to these events. Terelle is a very good athlete, but he is still a high school senior. Good luck Terrelle, but as your career continues -remember, "it's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!" by Bill Gaffey for pahoops.org Complete all-star rosters found HERE
