Athletically, Holland Patent high school fields 39 teams in
16 different sports. As a class “B” school, we compete in the very
competitive Tri-Valley League. The “Purple & Gold” are no strangers to post
season play and we have had our share of league and sectional championships.
The Holland Patent Central School System is located in central New York, twelve miles northwest of the City of Utica and ten miles east of Rome. At one time, the local community was a rural farming community. Farming has since declined and the community is now primarily a bedroom community for several small to medium sized cities. Many of the residents in our district live in the surrounding hamlets of Trenton, Barneveld, and Floyd and commute to the nearby cities of Rome, Syracuse, and Utica for employment. Currently, the school district has 8,000 residents.
