5-February 2, 2010, Strawberry Mansion (Phila) 88, Imhotep Charter (Phila) 82 (5 Overtimes).  It was 46-46 at the end of regulation time.   The score is 78-78 after four overtimes.  (Inquirer, Ted Silary story)  Ted's note: I covered an eight-OT game in 1972, back when OT periods were three minutes rather than four. I also have vague memory of a five-OT CL game -- maybe North vs. Wood? -- and a five- or six-OT Inter-Ac game that involved Haverford School? Maybe against CHA? Not positive.)

New Brighton outlasted Riverside in a thrilling Class AA Section 2 contest, upending the visiting Panthers, 82-80, in five overtimes. Josh McFrazier scored 31 points for New Brighton  and Mason Marion netted 31 for Riverside

4-On Dec. 9, 1989,  Valley defeated Highlands, 61-54, in four overtimes. It was the consolation game of the former Alle-Kiski Valley Tip-off Tournament at Highlands HS. It was only the second game in the high school career of Valley's Tom Pipkins, who scored 16 points. Pipkins would go on to become the WPIAL's all-time scoring leader with 2,838 points.  (George Guido, Tarentum Valley News Dispatch)
4-Shanksville-Stoneycreek defeated Father Geibel in four overtimes to win the 1976-77 PIAA Class A Semifinals (i.e., the Western Finals) held at Hershey Arena.  That was the last year the PIAA sent four teams in each classification to Hershey.  Shanksville-Stoneycreek lost the PIAA finals the next day; Father Geibel also lost the consolation game.  (Credit: John Reeder)

Syracuse sets a Big East record, defeating Connecticut 127-117 in six overtimes on Thursday March 12, 2009.   The NCAA record is 7 overtimes.

4-The Abington Heights Comets defeated the Williamsport Millionaires 86-77 in four-overtimes (2/24/08) in the District 2-4 Class AAAA title game.  At one point in this game, Abington Heights had converted 21 straight foul shots.(Williamsport Sun Gazette)  (Courtesy EJ Murphy)

On Saturday March 21, 2009, it might be tagged as the Long-est Overtime Game ever.  Imhotep defeated North Catholic 75-67 in two overtimes in the State PIAA Class AA championship.  Why the Long-est?  North Catholic started four players named Long and a coach named Long.  Coach Dave Long and players Jesse Long, Joe Long, Mark Long, and Matt Long.
