Preston F. Thompson, 69,
Founding member, Chester Sports Hall of Fame

Preston F. Thompson, 69, of Chester, a founding member of the Chester Sports Hall of Fame, died July 3, 2010 at Crozer-Chester Medical Center.

A former cook at Fair Acres Geriatric Center in Media, Mr. Thompson also worked at Fibre-Metal in Concord and the Granite Run Mall in Middletown.

He was a member of the Elks and the Old Heads from Chester High School.

Mr. Thompson was the son of the late William C. Thompson and Lottie Floyd Thompson.

Survivors: Brother, William Thompson Jr. of Chester; sisters, Yvonne Hicks, Veora Thompson, Carol Cooper, all of Chester.

Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 101 Washington Ave., the Twin Oaks section of Upper Chichester.

Visitation: 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Burial: Haven Memorial Cemetery, Chester Township.
