Leonard M. Zandy, 63, of Dillsburg passed away Friday at his home.
He was born in Coupon, Cambria County, son of the late Frank L. and Elvira T. (Fulchiero)
Zandy.
Surviving are his loving wife of 37 years, Patricia A. (Strickler) Zandy;
daughters: Nicole L. Zandy of Durham, N.C., Kimberly A. Zandy of Dillsburg and
Pamela S. Zandy of Arlington, Va.; sisters and brothers-in-law: Madeline E. and
Ted Seskey and Shirley G. and Ken Butterbaugh, all of Duncansville; and a half
sister, Ida M. Fulchiero in California. He was preceded in death by half
brothers: Jildo L. and Frank “Jr.” Zandy.
Leonard was a dealer account manager for Ford Credit serving the central
Pennsylvania region. He also was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church,
Mechanicsburg.
He was a 1962 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School, Altoona, and a 1966
graduate of Fordham University, Bronx, N.Y., where he was a standout athlete,
setting records in baseball and basketball. After college, he played several
seasons with the Kansas City Athletics baseball farm team. He also was a former
baseball player for the Greater Altoona City League, basketball player for the
YMCA League of Altoona and played slow pitch softball in the Altoona area. He
also was an avid golfer and animal lover.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, at Cocklin
Funeral Home Inc., 30 N. Chestnut St., Dillsburg, with the Rev. Chester Snyder
officating. A viewing will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at noon Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, at St.
Patrick’s Catholic Church, 201 South St., Newry, with Monsignor Anthony Little
officiating. A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Nov. 28,
2007, at the church prior to the service. Burial at Alto Reste Park Cemetery,
