Mia Hopkins hit another milestone on Tuesday, fueling Pittston Area’s 69-28 win over Coughlin in a Wyoming Valley Conference girls basketball game.  Hopkins, the Patriots’ all-time scoring leader, scored 14 of her game-high 32 points in the first quarter to give her 1,500 on her career. Gerald Terry, Wilson won the Jeff Dailey Memorial MVP award as the senior guard scored a game-high 19 points, dished five assists and had a hand in 12 of his team's 19 points in the fourth quarter when it pulled away for a 51-40 victory over Notre Dame.  (Allentown Morning Call, 1/3/13)

Foul Shooting Makes a Difference
T.J. Haws poured in 23 points and was fouled three times on 3-point attempts, and he was able to convert each time. The junior shot 12 for 13 from the foul line and Lone Peak, Utah ended the 61 game winning streak of Chester, PA.  (The Tribune)

William Thomas basket with two seconds remaining gave Gateway a 38-36 win over Plum in spite of a woeful a 4-for-24 performance from the foul line.

The Ridgway girls featured a balanced attack, scoring the same amount of points in all four quarters against Elk County Catholic.  But since, it was only two each quarter, they lost 60-8!!
The Lower Merion Aces lost 70-64 to Neumann Goretti Friday evening at the Kobe Braynt Gymnasium.
Allison Warren,  a Pottsville Nativity freshman  opened up  scoring 17 pts in her high school debut and then followed up with 11 pts the next day..
 Williamsport defeated Reading, 79-70, in the Bearcat Classic Tip-off Tournament.
 Susquehanna Twp makes a strong early statement with wins over Steelton, Central Dauphin, and Bishop McDevitt!
Doyle Wolverton, a girls junior high and high school basketball coach at a small country school named Leake Academy, won his 1218th game.  Leake Academy is located in a small Mississippi town named Madden.

Coaching Milestone Jenkintown HS girls coach, Jim Romano, earned his 500th career win on Saturday night as the Lady Drakes (District 1, Class A) defeated Lower Moreland (Class AAA) 40-30 in front of a packed house at Jenkintown High School. Overtimes-Brandon Thomas had 15 points and 12 rebounds, and New Brighton (9-1) held Cornell (2-6) scoreless in the third overtime to gain a 66-62 win in the Neighborhood Academy tournament championship. (Pittsburgh Post Gazette, 12/29/12)

PIAA rejects transfer's appeal to play for Crestwood
November 16, 2012
By a vote of 6-0, Luke Casey was denied eligibility to play basketball for Crestwood this year at a hearing held at PIAA headquarters in Mechanicsburg.  Last month by a vote of 11-0, the District 2 committee ruled Casey was ineligible to play basketball after transferring from Nanticoke Area prior to the start of the 2012 school year. The District 2 committee voted believing the transfer was based on athletic purposes.  (Citizens Voice)

CHESTER, PA.--Why it should be No. 1 in 2012-2013

The Clippers were 32-0 last season and won the state AAAA championship for the second consecutive year. In addition to a 58-game winning streak, they have a strong tradition, with more titles (eight) than anyone in the state. Chester returns three senior starters in 6-foot-7 forward Rondae Jefferson (12.1 points, 9.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.7 blocks and 2.6 steals per game; committed to Arizona), 6-7 forward Richard Granberry and 6-1 guard Darius Robinson. The Clippers also return senior guard James Kirksey and added Friends Central transfer Conrad Chambers, a talented junior guard, and senior guard Isaiah Warren from Archbishop Carroll (Radnor, Pa.). They have a tough schedule that includes the City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers, Fla, and the Hoophall Classic in Springfield, Mass
