Leader Board Lists

"Welcome to the New Jersey  High School Leader Board !"

We are now looing for information for the new 2007-2008 season,  send  to wgaffey@pa.net

3/10/08, Arielle Collins, Steinert High School class of 2008  finished with 1732 high school total varsity points, which became the  new school record for either (girls and boys).  She has been invited to play  Friday March 28th in Harrisburg in the games in Pennsylvania.
2/12/08, Jordan Marcus senior from Solomon Schechter Day School in West Orange NJ.   Last season he was a first team all state prep-b and third team all-prep player (includes st benedicts, hun, peddie, lawrenceville, blair) as he led the team to a prep-b state championship.  This year, he is averaging 32.7 ppg.  He has also hit three 40 point plus games.

Corey Boland (photo left) Wardlaw Hartridge School in Edison  joined
the 1000 point club reaching that mark on January 8, 2008.

1/25/08, Wildwood Catholic senior Clark Hindelang returned to action with a bang last night as the  Crusaders (8-7) won a crucial game to keep playoff hopes alive by defeating St. Joseph's of Hammonton(11-4) 69-63. Hindelang, fresh off an ankle injury which sidelined him for 2 games, finished with a double-double with 11 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals in 30 minutes of action. Hindelang is currently averaging 16.8 ppg and 10.5 rebounds.

1/23/08,
Lenape sophomore Christina Foggie will likely become the first player since Willingboro's Crystal Langhorne to reach 1,000 career points during her sophomore year.  Foggie had 766 through the weekend, and at her current pace of 21.4 points per game, she should hit a grand by the last week of the regular season.  (Mark Zimmaro, Burlington County Times)

12/30/07, Holy Cross 61, Communications Tech, Pa. 57: Justin Swidowski scored 25 points, two shy of his career-high, as the Lancers won the championship game of the Seashore Cup Bracket of the Wildwoods Boardwalk Basketball Classic. He added a game-high 12 rebounds to the Lancers cause.

12/19/07, Shayla Llanos surpassed the 1,000-point plateau on a long-range jumper in the second quarter, and the senior guard went on to score 26 to help host Salem slam Pitman, 57-31, yesterday in Tri-County Conference girls' basketball. Llanos boosted her career total to 1,013 points. Mary Beato topped Pitman's scoring with 15 points.

USA Today Pre-season-three New Jersey teams-#3,5,6
3. St. Patrick's, Elizabeth, N.J. (30-2)  Starters returning: 3. Outlook: Won New Jersey's Tournament of Champions for the second consecutive season and, despite losing a few key seniors, could repeat. Top players include senior 6-8 PF Quintrell Thomas (9.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg), who is headed to Kansas, and junior 6-3 G Dexter Strickland, who is being recruited by North Carolina, Florida and others. Junior 6-6 F Paris Bennett is another highly recruited Celtic. Three new players give St. Patrick's plenty of depth — 6-6 F Michael Gilcrist, 6-7 F Marcus Kennedy and 5-9 freshman G Shaquille Stokes.
5. St. Anthony, Jersey City (28-1)  Starters returning: 5. Outlook: The Friars return their top scorer, Rutgers signee Mike Rosario, a 6-3 G (15.8 ppg, 4.0 rpg). There's plenty of depth behind him as five others signed Division I letters. Leading that group are Tyshawn Taylor (9.2 ppg, 2.5 apg), a 6-2 G who is headed to Marquette, and Pitt-bound defensive stopper Travis Woodall (9.4 ppg, 2.1 spg). Jio Fontan, a 5-11 PG and 6-3 SF Alberto Estwick, are headed to Fordham. A.J. Rodgers (8.0 ppg, 8.0 rpg), a 6-5 F who's going to St. Joseph's, and junior 6-5 F Dominic Cheek (6.5 ppg, 3.0 rpg) also provide plenty of size.
6. St. Benedict's, Newark, N.J. (24-1)  Starters returning: 3. Outlook: Will be led by Louisville-bound 6-9 F Samardo Samuels (photo left). Tamir Jackson, a 6-2 junior SG is another key player for the Gray Bees, along with 6-9 C Greg Echenique and PG Scott Machado. They will be tested by their tough schedule, which includes Oak Hill, Mount Vernon, St. Patrick and Artesia (Calif.).   (Photo credit: Dave Burman)
