Curtis Watkins Report:
-6-3 Freshman Guard Trevor Cooney scored 25 pts to lead the Sanford Warriors to a 68-40 blowout win over Tower Hill on 02/11. Cooney who is rated one of the Top 50 Freshman in the USA is averaging 20 ppg and is shooting 79 percent from the foul line. He is drawing interest from Notre Dame and Villanova.

-3 time All-American Elena DelleDonne scored 38 pts. and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Ursuline Raiders to a 57-37 victory over Christ the King(NY) in the HoopHall Classic at Springfield, Mass. on 01/18. The 6-5 Sr. is the All-Time Girls Scoring Leader in Delaware with 2453 pts.  She is now only 11 pts. behind the Delaware Boys All-Time Top scorer Jawan Carter who played at Tatnall School and hit for 2464 career points. She had missed 10 games because of an illness.
-6-3 Sr. Corey Lewis of Sussex Central H.S. in Georgetown,De. scored 39 pts including 4 three-pointers to lead the Knights to a 85-78 victory over Polytech on Dec.18th. He also scored 29 pts. in a 62-56 win over Smyrna on 12/14.
-6-5 Ron Giplaye a transfer from Massachusetts scored 26 points, grabbed 17 rebounds and handed out 4 assists to lead Newark High to a 56-42 win over Caesar Rodney in the 20th annual Kappa Klassic on Wednesday December 12th.  He is easily one of the Top 3 players in Delaware along with 6-6 Jr. Brian Oliver of William Penn and 6-0 Sr. Nafis Richardson of Hodgson Vo-Tech. Giplaye completely outplayed 6-7 Jr. Tyshawn Bell of Caesar Rodney who only scored 2 points and grabbed 7 rebounds and led the Yellojackets to a come from behind win.
-6-9 Soph Malcolm Gilbert of St. Elizabeth  had a monster game on Dec. 5th as he scored 13 points, grabbed 17 rebounds and blocked an amazing 20 shots as he led the Vikings to a 72-61 win over Middletown. He has tremendous quickness and great shot blocking ability and intimidated other shots as well. He is Delaware's # 1 Sophmore and is rated by all recruiting services nationwide for Class of 2010.
-L.J. Dimanche who is a 5-5 sr. at St. Andrews in Middletown, Delaware scored 31 points in a 73-49 loss to Archmere on 12/04. He also hit for 7 three pointers and was 8 for 9 from the free throw line.  He had swished 6 three pointers and totaled 34 points in a 65 -41 rout of  Wilmington Christian on 11/30. .  He is averaging 32.5 PPG after the first 2 games.
-
Deon Jones a 6-4 Freshman at Sanford School scored 29 pts. and grabbed 15 rebounds in his first varsity game to lead Sanford School in Hockessin, Delaware to a 58-42 win over Westtown (PA).  He is a very athletic wing forward who can get to the hoop when he wants to and has good court awareness and is so mature for his years. He has a tremendous upside and probably will grow to a 6-7 guard by the time he is a senior. His perimeter game is improving every time he steps on the court. He should be rated at least a 3-Star candidate for the Class of 2011.  He is the younger brother of 6-4 Freshman Jeff Jones of Virginia who is the All-Time leading scorer in the Philadelphia Catholic  League.
