2/11/08, 6-3 Freshman Guard Trevor Cooney scored 25 pts to lead the Sanford (DE) Warriors to a 68-40 blowout win over Tower Hill. He is already drawing interest from Notre Dame and Villanova.  (Curtis Watkins Delaware Report)

2/10/08, Zach Zweizig, Wilson (West Lawn) was the leading scorer in his teams 54-34 win over Cocalico in the 3-A Boy's Basketball Tournament. (Reading Eagle).

2/9/08, Shawn Oakman, Penn Wood hauled in 13 rebounds for the fifth-seeded Patriots (19-6) in their 55-42 win over Central Bucks South. (Delco Times)

1/31/08, Autumn Pellman, Greenwood the ‘Cats’ freshman post star, matched her career high with 22 points and battered the undersized Eagles for 17 rebounds, including 13 at the offensive end.  (Perry County Times, John Alvanitakis)

1/24/08, Andrew Nicholas of Eastern York had 31 in a 76-74 loss to Susquehanna Twp.

 Freshmen Mike Lamberti  scored 20  to lead South Fayette 16-3.

1/12/08, Alyssa DeRichie, Horseheads (NY),  has been the Blue Raiders' leading scorer and rebounder so far this season. She can fill the lane on the fast break or stop and pop from the outside.  (Elmira Star-Gazette).

1/8/08, Amy Zehner, Tamaqua, she runs the point guard position like a senior.  On 1/7/08, she 10 points and 11 rebounds as Tamaqua defeated Schuylkill Haven 48-39. (Republican and Herald, Kevin Keating)

-Casey Baker,  Conneaut Valley  had 14 in the season opener against Allegheny-Clarion Valley.  He scored in double figures 6 of the first 7 games of the season.  (Maxi Preps)
-12/2/07,  Peter Alexis, the 6'10" freshman at Holy Redeemer, the new Wyoming Valley Conference team, the Wilkes Barre Times Leader calls Alexis, "the most talked about freshman in a long time!"

-12/03/07, Kayla Hoohuli,  a high school freshman   at St. Mary's Area High School in St. Mary's, PA  had 37 points in her second varsity game,  a 64-44 win over Johnsonburg.  After the season's first six games, she stands as the leading scorer in District Nine with 159 points for a 26.5 per game average.   (District 9 website, http://www.d9sports.com)

-12/4/07, Dillen Statler, a 6-foot-8 freshman at Elderton -15 points, grabbing 17 rebounds and blocking 11-in his opening game.  (Indiana Gazette)

-12/4/07, Deon Jones a 6-4 Freshman at Sanford School scored 29 pts. and grabbed 15 rebounds in his first varsity game to lead Sanford School in Hockessin, Delaware to a 58-42 win over Westtown (PA).  (Curtis Watkins)

-12/7/07, John Johnson,(Fr),  Girard College.  He recorded his four consecutive 20 point game as a frosh against South Philadelphia in a 79-61 win.  (Maxi Preps)

-12/8/07, the West Genesee  girls basketball team continued undefeated in the Toyota High School Game of the Week  beating Utica Proctor. They were able to overcome a game high 26 points by Proctor Freshman Brianna Kiesel.  She led Proctor last year as an eighth grader.   (Channel 3, WSTM TV, Jessob Reisbeck)

--Briana is averging over 24pts a game, including 30 pts, 6 stls and 6 asts -she broke the schools single season scoring record of 409 previously held by Clara Carter (Penn. St), with 413pts after last night game and two regular season games left plus sectionals.

-12/15/07, Solvay 62, Westhill 47:The play of freshman Tessa Pucello helped the undefeated Bearcats bounce the Warriors at Westhill. Pucello dropped in a career-best 25 points and also had 21 rebounds.  It is believed to be the first time in school history Solvay has defeated Westhill. (Syracuse Post Standard)

-12/19/07, Freshman Shea Wassel paced the Lansdale Catholic Crusaders with 14 points in an upset 42-34 Pioneer Athletic Conference victory at Lansdale Catholic.  She had 23 on 12/14/07 including 11 for 14 from the foul line in the fourth quarter in a win over Phoenixville.

-12/19/07, Monessen 62, Charleroi 45: The Greyhounds outscored rival Charleroi, 47-19, in the second and third quarters, and recorded a Section 5-AA victory. Freshman Terrence Stepoli led Monessen (5-3, 4-0) with 13 points. (Pittsburgh Post Gazette)

12/18/07, Freshman Belma Nurkic netted a season-high 30 points to lead Baldwin (6-2, 2-2) to a 59-46 Section 4 win against Canon-McMillan (Pittsburgh Post Gazette)

12/18/07, Hampton snapped Indiana's eight game win streak 46-26. Coming off Friday's 63-57 comeback win over Derry, the Indians looked like they would stage another when they forced a of couple turnovers off their full-court press and quickly cut the deficit to three as  Freshman Kristin Brice, Indiana's tallest player at 5-11, scored off an offensive rebound. 12/19/07, KSA Challenge. Freshman point guard Bria Young hit two free throws with four seconds left in overtime for the final two points of the game and gave Prep Charter a 45-44 win over Garnet Valley at Disney World's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla.  (Philadelphia Inquirer)

12/17/07, Freshmen are making an impact, It didn't take long for three freshmen - Pitman's Luke Dickson, St. Augustine's Isaiah Morton and Overbrook's Danny Wilson - to make an impact on the varsity level.  Dickson scored 21 points,  four three-pointers,  five assists and four steals in Pitman's 63-46 win at Pennsville.  "He has tremendous skills," his coach said. In other words, Dickson isn't a typical freshman.  
Paul Rodio, the veteran St. Augustine coach, said Morton is "destined to be one of the best players in the area."  Morton, a highly touted 5-foot-8 point guard netted a team-high 15 points to spark St. Augustine past Wildwood Catholic, 62-51. The Hermits won despite 27 turnovers.
Wilson came off the bench to deposit 18 points in Overbrook's 71-44 conquest of Woodstown.  This came after he had played in the J.V. game just prior to the Varsity game.  (

12/24/07,  Here’s a quick glimpse of this year’s Berk's County notable ninth graders: Reading Holy Name, Jon Angstadt the starting point guard  for the Blue Jays, who are off to an 8-2 start. He had a team-high 13 points to go along with five rebounds and five assists Saturday against Wyomissing.   Twin Valley, Josh Kurtz is starting at center.  Tulpehocken, Zach Carles is starting at forward. Reading High, "the Red Knights have perhaps the most promising member of the Class of 2011 in Marcus Dawkins. The 6-2 left-hander made an impressive debut last week, capped by a 10-point performance in Friday’s 75-45 victory over Berks I rival Exeter in which he sank two 3-pointers and threw down a dunk off a steal."  (Darryl Grumling, Reading Eagle)

12/28/07, Freshman Selena Adamshick paced Lake-Lehman with 11 points as the  Black Knights lost in the opening round  of the Munley Girls Tournament at Crestwood High School.

12/28/07, North Star, freshman Emily Lohr came off the bench to provide 12 points and 16 rebounds for North Star (10-1).
12/8/07, Ajaye Dean of Mercersburg Academy  had 14 in the 79-70 win over St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School.  In the 58-48 win over ,  St. Maria Goretti (3-1)  Dean led Mercersburg with 13.
12/30/07, William Tennent  H. S. got 13 points from freshman guard Ashley Alden.

-12/31/07,  Emily Greer (Corry H.S.) 5'10" Freshman had six consecutive double doubles to start  the 2007 season. Emily was averaging 14.7 points per game with at least 10 rebounds.

-Eastern York has 2 freshman varsity players they have a great start 7-1 overall playing in the YAIAA w/ wins over Greencastle and York Suburban.   6'6" Andrew Nicholas leads his team in scoring 20+ game and rebounding. 5'10" Austin Tillotson plays the point.   (York Ballers AAU Basketball Club)

-Dallastown has 1 freshman varsity player- 6'0" Four McGlynn runs the point and is averaging 8pts per game 3 assists and in a win over Southwest in Dec- Four knocked down 4 of 4 free throws in the closing seconds to seal a 52-51 win.  On 1/3/08, he had 14 for Dallastown in their 57-48 win over the York

Fabulous freshman Kalia Johnson Dale (VA) poured in 23 points, had nine assists and grabbed eight rebounds in Dale's 73-60 victory over Varina.
