Who is Bill Gaffey?     
 

*he was a head basketball coach for 29 years at five schools:
---Altoona Bishop Guilfoyle, 1967 State Champions
---Auburn (NY) Mt. Carmel, most wins of any Mt. Carmel coach
---Johnstown Bishop McCort, western semi-finalist
---St. Mary's Public, named "Coach of the Year" in his second season by sportswriters with only a .500 record
---Susquehanna Twp, 1980 State Champions

In 1956, he was co-captain of the St. Mary's Public High School team that won the District 9, Class B Championship
In 1957, Father Casmir at Sacred Heart Grade School hired Bill Gaffey to organize and coach a 7th/8th grade team.
In 1958, Bill Gaffey became the player/coach for an adult traveling team, the St. Mary's Collegians
In both 1961 and 1962, he was twice named to the Pennsylvania Jr. College All-Star Team playing for the Penn State Dubois Campus

---he reorganized the Eastern Pennsylvania Basketball Coaches Association and was elected the President
---he started the Northwest Senior All-Star Games in St. Mary's in 1972
---he started the Mid-State Roundball Classic in Harrisburg in 1977
---he and his son Mike started the Pennsylvania vs Maryland All-Star Game in 1992
---he designed and put up the Pennsylvania Basketball Website in 1992
---he and his son Mike started the Pennsylvania/Maryland Shootouts in 1993
---he founded the Pennsylvania Basketball Hall of Fame in 1994
