THE 1997 PENNSYLVANIA/MARYLAND SHOOTOUT

(1) COLLEGE SCOUTING PACKETS FOR 1997 ARE STILL AVAILABLE.The Boy's Shootout had 140 boys attending. The packet of information is available for$15.00 including postage. The Girl's Shootout had 64 girl's attending. The packet of information is available for $6.50 including postage.



(2) PROCEEDS BENEFITED THE HIGH SCHOOL LIBRARY
The Keiser-Feran Library at Susquehanna Twp. High School (Harrisburg, PA) benefited from the proceeds of the successful Shootout. Special thanks to all those who donated their talents to make the event successful.


(3)N.C.A.A. CERTIFICATION
On August 20, 1997, in a memo from Doug Archie of the NCAA offices located in Overland Park, Kansas, the PENNSYLVANIA/MARYLAND Basketball Shootouts scheduled at Susquehanna Twp. High School in Harrisburg, PA. received official NCAA certification.
In a Shootout, players pay a fee to participate, they are assigned to teams, and then they play three basketball games in one day as college scouts look on. Certification allows the college coaches to attend the event according to NCAA by-laws 13.13.5 and 30.16.
High School players from Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New York states attended.

(4)THE GIRL'S SHOOTOUT. The Girl's Shootout was held on Sunday Sept 14. 64 girls participated. They were placed on teams and each girl played in three games. Then twenty-four girls were chosen to play in their fourth game, the Red-White All-Star Game. The Red led by Rebekah May (Hershey), and Mary Beth Drenning(Susquehanna Twp) defeated the White in overtime. Drenning(Susquehanna Twp. Junior) was chosen as the MVP in this game.

(5)THE BOY'S SHOOTOUT. The Boy's Shootout was held on Sunday Sept 21. 136 boys participated. They were placed on teams and each boy played in three games. Then twenty-four boys were chosen to play in their fourth game, the Red-White All-Star Game. The Red, led by Kevin DeVan and Demon Maxwell, defeated the White in this game. Demon Maxwell(Harrisburg Senior) was chosen as the MVP in this game.
